Antiquing and Distressing is a simple technique that takes advantage of old world colors.

Gesso used to give texture.
Gold first coat of color.
Teak glaze 1st coat.
Teak glaze  2nd coat.
Dull finish to give a
natural look.

You can take old doors in your house and give them an elegant finish that looks very expensive.

This method of antiquing is with a release wax that is used over the base coat of red.  The white is applied, the release wax is washed off.
