MARMORINO
MARMORINO is a versatile and beautiful modern version of ancient
polished stucco for interior and exterior use.
Traditional ingredients such as marble flour, fine sand and lime
give a polished plaster surface, which is decorative and has a natural
look.
Because of its resistance to dampness, Marmorino
is an ideal surfacing for bathrooms and kitchens.
The unique feature of Marmorino is that it can be applied over
virtually any substrate including emulsion (latex), lining paper or bare
plaster, stone, wood or concrete.
Surface
preparations: surfaces should be clean and dry, and free of any dust
or loose material and primed with an acrylic primer.
Let dry for twenty-four hours.
Applications:
A. Smooth
Marmorino:
1.
Apply a thin coat (approximately 2 mm), with a
stainless-steel trowel spreading firmly in all directions, using
circular movements, to fully cover the whole surface evenly.
2.
When completely dry, apply a second coat, this time pressing and
smoothing the surface repeatedly with the trowel, holding it like an
iron. Take care not
"slice" into the surface and that the trowel is free of any
loose crumbs of dry Marmorino (stopped smoothing if dark veins appear).
3.
At 80 percent dry (cold to the touch but will not come off when
touched) smooth again, using pressure, until desired smoothness is
achieved.
B.
Distressed Marmorino:
1.
Repeat step 1 smooth Marmorino.
2.
For this effect the second coat should be applied in patches. When smoothed, the gaps between the patches will subtly
reveal the rough first coat below, creating an "ancient walls"
effects.
*Tools should be constantly cleaned during second
application. We recommend
working with a trowel had a spatula (putty knife) using a spatula for
wiping excess material and cleaning the trowel as application
progresses.
